Co-Curated by Tommy Gregory of The En and Leah St. Lawrence, Exit the Foot by Jimmy James Canales, harnesses the power of fantasy, personal myth making, action figurines and play in response to the life shaping forces of parenthood, loss and the pandemic. Small-scale wooden figures, abstracted and intricately constructed, navigate a human shaped board. Individually outfitted, expressing different attributes, super powers or shortcomings, these figures tell a story of fear, wonder, courage, tenderness and transformation.

 

The Great Jones Gallery is a re-imagining of a historic artist space in the rapidly changing Capitol Hill neighborhood. Through partner-driven experiences and community sponsored events, as well as expertly curated collections of purchasable work, GJG values collaborative events and fosters emerging talent across all sectors of the arts.
